Suicide Hill Trail Run

While i was at my parents last month my sister told me about a run that takes place in a tiny town near Hutchinson (Little River, KS) called Suicide Hill Trail Run 10k

Trail running has intrigued me lately so i thought, heck ya!

The course started out on the tiny town's main street and took off onto some country roads. We then turned into a pasture and up some really looong hills through the pasture. I had to stop and walk a couple of times...i hate doing that very much!! There were cowboys on horses out in the pasture at two different points. It was very windy that day too and hot!

After going out of the pasture we headed up a much more rocky trail...being a visitor to the area, while i was running i wondered just which hill of these many hills was called "suicide hill"! I mean several of these would qualify for the name! I later was told which one was the actual owner of the name.

We then headed back onto the road and i was able to pick up the pace again to the finish line.

This run was a challenge that i may just have to take on again next year. I think the sr citizens local group was helping with the water stations, i thought that was neat. This race has been a long tradition for this little town and is well run.

I especially enjoyed doing it with my sister and two running buddies who i get to join for runs every now and then Mandy and Christina... fun day girls and thanks for the invite!

My time for this race was 52:47
